2022 NRS Christmas Party and Annual Awards

Gary Spencer with 2022 NRS Bronze Medal Award
The Nashville Rose Society 2022 Christmas party was a big success. The party was held on Sunday, December 11, at the Belmont University Ayers Academic Center. We had approximately 40 members attending including several new members.

One of the main attractions of the NRS Christmas party is always the food. The Society provided turkey, ham, and drinks and the members brought a wide variety of delicious side dishes and desserts. No one should have left hungry!

Entertainment was provided by Allie Heard, an accomplished pianist in her senior year at the Belmont University School of Music. Allie has performed at our Christmas party for the last 2 years and always brings the joy of Christmas music to the occasion.

NRS Annual Awards

In addition to music, food, and presents, the 2022 Nashville Rose Society annual awards were announced.

Gary Spencer, NRS Treasurer, was awarded the 2022 Bronze Honor Medal for Outstanding Service, the highest award that can be presented by a local rose society. In addition to being NRS Treasurer for more than 10 years, Gary has served in many areas – chairing Vendor Events, leading the set-up for Rose Shows, and purchasing supplies for the Rose Study Garden and other projects.

Ron Daniels and John Wendler, NRS Co-Presidents, presented the 2022 Presidents Award to Marty Reich, Lori Emery, Gene Meyer, and Mary Hext. The Nashville Rose Society Presidents Award is given to a member of the Society who has demonstrated continuous support for our Society and has made significant contributions over time – a member who steps up when asked, goes above and beyond when needed, and serves as a positive example for all NRS members.

Gene Meyer, NRS Consulting Rosarian Chair, was presented his Master Rosarian certificate by Cindy Worch, Tenarky District Consulting Rosarian Chair. A Master Rosarian is an American Rose Society designation for a Consulting Rosarian who has been a Consulting Rosarian for at least ten years, exemplifies knowledge of roses and their culture, shows a strong and demonstrated willingness to share this knowledge with other rosarians and the general public, and provides an example of outstanding service to the local rose society and the ARS.

We are looking forward to another successful year for the Nashville Rose Society in 2023.
